Compositio – WordPress Theme
Posted on: Thursday, Feb 5, 2009
Tags: blog design, Compositio, premium themes, wordpress theme
We have finally done it! After a long time, we are releasing a brand new theme called Compositio. As some of you know, we name our themes based on Latin. Compositio is a two column theme, made to for those who want to put their content at the front with a unique light blue design. Random square shapes are the defining graphics of this theme. They are used throughout the background, bringing a special rhythm to the theme.
A special feature of this theme is the logo changer. ( Thanks to Munzir Rosdi). You can use the default WordPress setting (“blog name”) or you can use your own logo. Upload your logo in the root folder of Compositio theme and name it logo.png. You can also use the PSD Logo Template in the source folder of Compositio Theme. (Image limitations: No more than 590px/85px).
If you want to activate this option go to: Administration Panel > Appearance > Logo Options, and select logo type.
The theme is widget ready so you can use it as you like. Also we customized the CSS for the default widgets to match the site style better.
The theme is using a few plugins, with some already integrated into functions.php, so there is no need to install them. The only plugin you need to install manually is FlickrRSS. (FlickrRSS plugin is in the theme folder) (see the demo).
- View theme demo
- Download the theme (.zip-package)
Download Name:
- compositio-theme-files.zip
Must contain:
- compositio
- logo-psd
- plugins
Also I would like to mention that this theme is sponsored by our own new business, Premium Themes. If you don’t like Composito theme you can buy one from there. :D.

Hi,
I would love to use your themes, however I have a formatting issue that isn’t addressed by a lot of WP themes. I’m using the Great Real Estate plugin, and it uses subpages for the listings. Well menus in most themes add a subpage to the side of the menu. Any chance you could change the menu to be a dropdown?
I will have 20+ real estate listings on my site, and I can’t have them all formatted to the side.

But the Type on the sidebar still needs some work. Please provide a little attention to styling those, give them a bit more breathing space

This theme is great! My only problem is whenever I put another form type of widget on the sidebar like email subsciption form, the form properties are being copied from the search form.. so it will always have a ’search’ tab on every input bar even if it’s not a search form, and the buttons are all messed up. Is there a way that I can reset form properties after the search function on top? thanks.

This theme is licensed CC By SA, stated at the end of the article, and without the NC. However, the following statement to the license declaration states “For Commercial use or credit removal please contact us.” The license specified allows commercial uses and commercial derivatives, so I’m confused by that statement.
Can you help me out? Is the license really By-SA-NC, or really as stated By-SA?
Thanks.

Hai, what I found out in this theme is the lack of the “Continue Reading…” button at every post that you enter. At present, when you post in let say 3000 word of article, the post will goes all the way down. What we need is the summarized of it, not all of them.
What should we do to “activate” them? Thanks…

Is there any way to make this work in IE6? (Yeah, I know). It basically works fine, but the right sidebar appears below the left sidebar, even on the demo site. Is there a div that’s not closed or something?
Seems like it should be an easy fix, but I can’t find it.

Elliott – I had to look it up how to do that, but essentially in the loop, where the category is displayed, change it to:
By: in:
This also activates the Archive.php page to create automatic Author pages. If you just want the author name, instead of a link, simply use “the_author” in the php tag.
I’ve implemented it on my site as well

Elliott (comment 60): You’ll need to make sure that the code shown in #58 is on index.php, page.php, and single.php. If that’s not the issue, I think you need to ensure that you have all of the users set as authors (or above) to show in the Add/Edit pulldown. Not sure why it’s in preview and not production.
Monie (comment 63): For this theme, archive.php acts as the category, tag, day/month/year archive, and author template (see the lengthy if statement at the top of archive.php). You’ll need to create a dedicated category page template if you want to customize it.
mrind (comment 64/65): I had to really scale down the headline text size in the stylesheet. Under “SL” you’ll want to change the .title to “normal”, and possibly reduce the font size. Same for the .p-head H1, H2, and H3’s under “Single Post”
MAQ (comment 67): I used the standard code available in WordPress. I had to spend some time in the WP Codex, but basically in Indx.php I added the following just before the “In: in the div class=”p-head”:
<p class=”p-cat”> By: <?php the_author_posts_link(); ?> in: <?php the_category(‘|’) ?></p>
Also, regarding the tag cloud, if you want to swap out the provided WP Tag Cloud, go to the sidebar.php, and swap out the <?php wp_tag_cloud(”); ?> with the code for your preferred tag cloud.
Hope that helps – I’m no expert, but happy to share what I’ve done thus far.

And good news on the IE6 front. Simple fix, actually, or at least it seems to work nicely:
In the stylesheet, under “Side-Right”, the first line, change the “margin-right” attribute from 30px to 25px or less, and that seems to work, without noticeably affecting the aesthetics.
Worked in my corporate XP/IE6 machine.

I love this theme but there is one thing I can’t figure out. It’s about the FlickrRSS. At the live demo I see four thumbnails next to eachother with a black border when you select them with your mouse, and with a few of those themed sqaures in the background.
No matter which setting I try (thumbnail, square etc etc), I can’t get my pictures in that size, nor can I get the black border when I get my mouse on them and I don’t have those sqaures behind the pictures either.
Am I doing something wrong, or is that feature just not in the theme we can download? Thanks in advance.

Great theme. one problem is that when you add a page and make it a child (i.e. pick a parent for it), the page is just added next to the parent page. It should be added beneath the parent page when you mouseover.

Have installed this theme on my main blog – amazing theme. I’m a web developer myself and know how much time it takes to make something like this.
But some problems arise in IE7 with WP 2.7.1. I’ll drop a note when I’ll have a solution for that.

Thank you for this theme! I’ve customized it a bit at my site.
Question: How can I re-order the tabs in the sidebar?
I’d prefer ‘Tags’ to show by default, with Recent Posts and Recent Comments after that. I switched around some code in sidebar.php but it made the tab switcher buggy and inoperative.

Hi
How do you allow nested comments with this theme, so users can follow the conversation (i.e so if I reply to a users comment it will appear below that comment and not at the bottom of the page)
Any ideas is this can be done? In the WP admin I enabled threaded (nested) comments 5 levels deep, but it does nothing on the front end?

Hi,
I would love to use your themes, however I have a formatting issue that isn’t addressed by a lot of WP themes. I’m using the Great Real Estate plugin, and it uses subpages for the listings. Well menus in most themes add a subpage to the side of the menu. Any chance you could change the menu to be a dropdown?
I will have 20+ real estate listings on my site, and I can’t have them all formatted to the side.

Lots of people are leaving comments of praise, and also comments of NEED – how to, etc. But nobody ever answers them! I find it’s not easy to change code and like one person said, non-geeks don’t know in the summary that they need to click on the post name to read the post. But nobody is answering our questions! That’s the one thing I don’t like. I would like to manipulate the “comments” from portugeuse to English and it’s really difficult to figure out where the coding for this is.

Regarding the IE6 problem where the sidebar gets pushed down, this resolved it for me:
In the CSS file find .SL and add “overflow:hidden;”
I’m not really sure why this worked (some content in the .SL div being wider than it should be?) but I doesn’t display any differently in normal browsers with this change.

I love it! I want it! (First saw it on Chart Porn.) However, WordPress hosts my site. I searched for it in their 79 template options and didn’t find it. Sigh. It’s ALMOST enough to motivate me to try my hand at hosting … although I’m a total neophyte on WordPress so that might be a little much for me. Anyway, hope you might consider distributing it (if that’s the right word) as built-in WordPress theme.

Hello! I love this theme. I’m trying to modify it for use as a podcast theme. My podcast uses the AudioPlayer plugin (http://wpaudioplayer.com/) to play episodes inside the post. However, unlike my old them, somehow this theme masks the players so they don’t show up – there’s just a blank spot. When I reactivate my old theme they come back. Any advice???

After a long time looking it’s nice to arrive at a well thought out theme (which most of yours seem to be).
I’m interested in using, but have asmall issue with sub-pages – these just seem to be displayed as top level pages in the menu?
OK, this may not have drop-down menu built in, but should sub-pages show at all in this case? It’s the only fly in the ointment at the moment!
ps. How would you implement a drop-down menu system in this theme?
thanks
Hugh
