Tipz Theme Released

We wanted a good strong theme that could fit a wide variety of topics for Tipz, which mainly writes how-to articles among various other topics. The front page has an easy to use “feature” section so you can easily put on display your most in-depth posts. You can even slot in a nice picture and a post excerpt to accompany the headline by editing the feature-image custom field and setting the category to “Featured”. We always like our rounded corners, which give the theme a simple Web 2.0 feel.
The theme is fully widgetized. A special feature of this theme as we use in many of our themes is the logo changer. You can use the default WordPress setting (“blog name”) or you can use your own logo. Upload your logo in the root folder of Tipz theme and name it logo.png or you can use the logo.psd as a template. You will find the source in the root folder of the Tipz theme..

Update! – 02.12.2009
- Gravatar problem fixed
- Page Navigation problem fixed
Many ask about feature image usage. Click on this screenshot and you will see how can make that image appear on featured post. For the design quality try to use a standard 150px/150px image. See how!

Hello!
I have installed your new Tipz Theme.
It is a problem. Not working page navigation. By clicking on the link “Older Entries” the contents don’t change. Tipz.com has the same problem. Can you fix this bug and update theme archive?
Thanks

I’m a huge fan of your templates, and am very interested in replacing the illacrimo template with Tipz. I noticed when I run a “preview” of the theme, there doesn’t seem to be support for the [caption] tag on images. Do you (or anyone currently using the template) have a workaround for this? Thanks!

Very attractive theme … But i can’t find the way to use the “feature” section and the “feature-image” function.
The featured post is always my most recent post. And even if i create a “Featured” category and class a post in this category, it doesn’t display in the “featured area”. cab’t find the way to use the feature-image custom field either, but it’s must be related … Anyone smarter than me ? Thanks.

To use the featured image function just do this..
1. Add a custom field for the featured post by editing your featured post
2. Use “feature-image” as name for the custom field
3. Insert a full image tag for the value who refers to the 150px thumbnail image
Ex.

Second line for index.php you replace

Put your featured category number instead of 7.
Now the last thing would be to prevent the featured post to be repeated in recent post on the homepage.
Anyone able to do this ?

How is it possible to change the name of the category that makes a post be “Featured”? Let’s say my blog is not in English and I don’t want my posts to be in the “Featured” category, but in the “Special” category. It’s just a matter of name.
So, how can i change it?

Yep! Now I can help with the ‘parse error’. In another forum I got the answer. All php installtions on wamp (windows, apache, mysql, php) servers has to switch the following in php.ini ‘on’ and restart the server:
; Allow the <? tag. Otherwise, only <?php and tags are recognized.
; NOTE: Using short tags should be avoided when developing applications or
; libraries that are meant for redistribution, or deployment on PHP
; servers which are not under your control, because short tags may not
; be supported on the target server. For portable, redistributable code,
; be sure not to use short tags.
short_open_tag = On
Best regards,
Thorsten
