Fervens is a 3 column theme that has a base idea of “freshness”. Summer is my favorite time of year as it always amazes us with a rainbow of sensation and colors, making this time of year the best of all.  The green of the plants and trees, the blue of the water….I love this time of year :)

I tried with this new theme to get something from that “freshness” and make it work on the web, specifically on wordpress, my favorite(and hands down the greatest) blog platform. Because I couldn’t agree with Vitaly regarding the column positions we decided to make 3 versions of it, Fervens A (Sidebar 1, Central Column, Sidebar 2), Fervens B (Sidebar 1, Sidebar 2, Central Column) and Fervens C (Central Column, Sidebar 2, Sidebar 1).

Main features of the theme

• 3 columns of fixed width
• widget-ready — two sidebars (both sidebars are supporting widgets, but I recommend to use the smaler one.
• the theme is using 3 plugins; 2 of them are integrated into functions.php, so there is no need to install them. These plugins are Gravatar, Recent Comments and FlickrRSS. You can use the last one to present your Flickr images in a Flickr Photostream (see the demo).

Go on Administration Panel > Settings > flickrRSS and you will see 2 inputs for HTML Wrapper.
Place in the first box <li> and close it in the second one </li>

I don’t really mind the title as much as I mind the simplicity tackled by some when treating this subject. I think that those who use these “best-seller like” titles should rather focus on the design of their own blog sites since, in most cases, these sites have an awful design.

Moreover, when receiving advices from such people, whose web sites have been erroneously designed, one begins to wonder if or why those precious advices have not been already implemented into the sites promoting them.

Initially being attracted by the large, “best-seller like” title, you discover at a later date that the web site’s owner, a self-proclaimed “theme guru designer”, also provides a “Premium Themes” offer, inconveniently crowded and displayed in the sidebar. Well, well. Isn’t this my lucky day? I reckon that this site has everything I need in order to start designing my blogs just like a theme guru designer.

On the same subject, I remember that once I began debating on the subject of sponsored themes, those who nowadays promote their Premium themes started pointing their finger at me, while instantly assuming the position of saints and mighty defenders of the WordPress blogging platform.

Oh, and let’s not even get into the concept of “Premium” service, product or whatever. Such a concept reminds me of the days when web hosting providers used to sort their offer into: Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Premium. Now that’s boring and utterly with no personality!

So far, I had decided not to express online my opinions and approach on certain subjects. However, I’ve decided to break the silence and focus on the WordPress themes I’m designing or have designed, as well as on some general — or more detailed — subjects, such as the one displayed above.

Once you’ve downloaded the theme and extracted the files, upload the folder to your wp-content/themes/ directory. Next, go to the ‘Presentation’ area in your WordPress administration panel and activate the theme.

I’ve included the following plugins with the theme (in the plugins folder):

Just upload everything in the plugins folder to your wp-content/plugins/ folder and activate the plugins from the ‘Plugins’ page in your administration panel. The plugins are customised to match Christmas Days theme.

The Gossip City theme is ready for download.

Gossip City is a theme for WordPress created by Design Disease. The theme was created based on what people would want to see from a gossip blog.

Theme

Logo

I haven’t got so much time (around 4 days) but i came with an idea and did the theme. Vitaly asked me also to detail the creation process of this colorful theme. You will find that information on the release post on Smashing Magazine.

The Smashing theme has a plug-in integrated into the functions.php, so modifying this file you should have some basic knowledge about PHP. The theme is Widget Ready.

TravelBrook will be new site of BloggyNetwork. This blog would like to be a reference point for those planning the travel destinations. The blog isn’t populated yet but in a short period of time it will be alive. By then i am proud to present you the logo i made. The blog is even greater. :D

Update: And we are back with Illacrimo. Our intrepid designer just wasn’t happy enough with the way things looked, and had to go back and make it perfect.

I didn’t know that it wasn’t already, but then again, that’s why I am not a designer.

We have a great three column theme for you called Illacrimo. Created by Design Disease, and released here on LifeSpy. It is the third free theme that Bloggy Network has released. Illacrimo has a strong color set, that should appeal to many, and works well with the plugins we have included in the download file, or without.
