I am not marketed enough

For the last few months I discovered my weakest point and that is communication through this blog. Not being a native English speaker moved all my attention to design and design only. I thought this is enough but it isn’t so and this is my conclusion …I am not marketed enough (See other Blog Designers) …and this is all my fault.

Are you agree with me on this? Should I start selling Premium Themes? I would like to know what do you think about my work and if you theme lovers have any advices for me.

Here is my report for 2007.

  • InSense | 11th Oct 2007 | 2634 Downloads
  • Gossip City | 11th Oct 2007 | 5642 Downloads
  • Smashing Theme | 19th Oct 2007 | 2268 Downloads
  • Illacrimo | 5th Nov 2007 | 3572 Downloads
  • Christmas Days | 12th Nov 2007 | 4137 Downloads
  • Dilectio | 9th Dec 2007 | 6297 Downloads
  • More then 25 Unique Blog Designs for my clients and many more.

Just that.

I love the way your themes are made :)

I’m sure you’ll have more business cause you’re the kind of services we love, givin’ some very good stuff to the community. WP is getiing bigger and bigger…

In my opinion, you should sell premium themes online (wp commerce ^^), you may also sell interactive video tutorials for exemples.

    hope u a good 2008 year… maybe work together (i’m a project leader/manager)

You don’t need to be marketed enough. You just need to make enough money, and have enough fun doing that. Being too popular has its downsides. Just look at Edison Chen. ;)

    keep up the good work!

  3. Well, i’m stayin in line with the other commentors: make some premium kits available.

  4. Gis says:

I’d love to work soon on that idea we had together remember? xD I just spiced up my blog and would love to know what you think about it :D

  5. Just put on your free-theme at my blog. Totally awesome. About not being well marketed, I think you should write more. Express your ideas and standard, and people will even recognize who you really are!

    Premium theme? Go for it!

  6. Dan Hill says:

Definitely! I love your work, the detail is always outstanding. Its tempting to say that great design speaks without language (english or otherwise) but that would sound cliched…

I would subscribe to your RSS if I knew you had one! I absolutely agree you are not marketed enough! Your designs are beautiful and your website is VERY easy to navigate! I found you through WPZoom.com.

    My suggestions are this:
    1. Get an RSS and RSS to Email going for this blog and advertise the RSS somewhere! [Feedburner.com provides easy RSS and feedblitz.com provides RSS to Email.]
    2. Post to this blog when you release a new free theme.
    3. Do you request that credit still remains intact at the bottom of your themes? If not, do that AND with the link back to this site.
    4. Provide a cost option to remove the link and attribution so you can make money when someone wants to donate to your cause and remove the link/attribution as well. [In the meantime, you’ll have links pointing here.]

    Those are my ideas. :)

  8. Samsara says:

PS. I just saw the RSS. Er. I am embarrassed. Maybe it needs to be more prominent? I looked everywhere before my suggestions. [I am sorry. I am so embarrassed.] :)

  9. Mike Rouse says:

You certainly do need to sell premium themes. You are a very talented designer.

Sa stiti ca aveti o mana foarte buna si scoateti numai lucruri frumoase de tot, felicitari!

  11. YES

  12. GNS says:

My readers love the Illacrimo theme!

However, there is page navigation for older posts at the bottom of the page. I have dozens of pages not being displayed.

Can somebody help me add this page navigation?

I love the look of your new theme! :)

I disagree with you regarding “you not marketed enough”. Well to start off, you’ve been featured in smashing magazine, css beauty, css remix, and latest in cssvault.com (from which I found out that you have change your theme) and your free themes have been downloaded more than 10,000 times.

    This alone proves your popularity.

    Best of luck.

  17. Looking at your site makes me wonder how come you don’t have premium themes for sell?
you should start selling premium themes for ( let’s say $79 per license) but must keep the free ones coz they will get you more visits.
Try to promote your blog coz it has 0 page rank

  18. Yes, you should do premium themes! What are you waiting for? ;)

i think the search result from google (blog designers) just show us that the site (design disease) has not been optimized for the keywords. maybe some plugins or code editing in your header/contents can help. i don’t think this is purely about well marketed or not. good designs is always good designs… and has nothing to do with google’s ranking. unless you’re going to sell or make business out of it. your designs really inspiring me, btw.

  20. Max Vogler says:

I have no idea for your future, but I have to say that I really love your current theme.

I have never ssen such a great combination of colors and shapes before. If you sell this theme, I’ll definitely buy it. :)

  21. Fernandooo1 says:

All your designs, except for the last one, have even been converted for Blogger’s platform! Doesn’t that say something? ;) You have designed excellent FREE templates and your popularity definitely increases day by day. I do think that the fact that they’re all free makes your site “different”. ;) I’m not saying, though, that you wouldn’t win a lot of money XD.

  22. Pablo N. says:

I used to have the same problem, I am not a native english speaker either. I am looking for someone to develop professional themes for my customers. I think you would be perfect for this, as a partner. Let me know.

  23. Stefan says:

Here are a couple of suggestions…
    1. Design a premium theme…
    2. Launch it on this website…
    3. Set up an independent affiliate program and offer 50% to your affiliates for every sale they refer (May I suggest Clickbank)
    4. Enjoy the money (you’ll be amazed how many affiliates will push your theme – I guarantee you)
    5. Repeat step 1.

It is very important to maintain a good list with your affiliates (Aweber). This way, every time you launch a new theme, your army of affiliates will clear the mine-field for you.

    All the best to you,

A great admirer of your work,

  24. Kiy says:

Yes, I think you have a gift and you should, like everyone else, profit from it. You put a lot of hard work and energy into your work and deserve to paid for it.

Even if you only charged $5, $10, or $20 per theme, judging by the downloads, it would make you a nifty bit of cash.

    Go for it–I would pay:)

I used your Christmas Days theme for a one page only post, and just love it! Although I have a programming background, php and css are not my thing. Navigating around your code was a lot easier than other themes I’ve tried on for size, especially since you seem to follow standards, which helps when I’m getting forum support. Today I found and downloaded two more of your themes (gossipcity and dilectio). I haven’t tried them out yet, but I’m looking forward to it. I really like your sense of design and simplicity. So should you offer premium themes? Without a doubt, yes! I might have to upgrade!

  26. man, your themes are awesome! I’d say if u’d try you’d have no problem marketing. your work speaks for itself

  27. Stu McLaren says:

One thing I would suggest is to build your email list. You have a lot of people who regularly visit your site but another way to always get people coming back is to tell them – especially when you release a new theme.

I personally use a WordPress plugin call “Comment Action” which adds a little checkbox underneath your post where people can choose to subscribe to your mailing list when they leave comments.

You can find it at http://www.CommentAction.com

It’s been really helpful for me and will certainly help you if you are looking to increase your marketability.

Afterall, your themes are awesome so you should be telling everyone about them – especially those of us who keep coming back anyway!

  28. Quality Tale says:

Hye, you must sell your creations. If you can do it, I am the first person to buy your creations. Just do it. After all it is your right to earn and nothing else. Just do it.

  29. Premium themes are worth the money in my opinion. Go for it!

  30. Sryche says:

Hands down to whoever is behind all these nice free themes. I encourage you to sell some premium themes as well, it would be great. And besides, we are here to support you.

    All the best!

  31. Go for it! You will succeed because you are talented.

  32. radyo dinle says:

Start the premium themes without anything else in mind’¦ you would really suceed’¦ I am sure :) ur theme design and coding is just perfect as per my experience’¦

  33. Dude! I like your themes! I think i will use some for my blog.

  34. LilbitK says:

I’d like to help you with viewers. If you have a particular banner ad you have chosen for branding and or marketing purposes, I’ll add it to my homepage. I’m thinking 120 by 60.
